In analytical chemistry, quantitative analysis is the determination of the absolute or relative abundance (often expressed as a concentration) of one, several or all particular substance(s) present in a sample. An analysis will often require a combination of methods: qualitative for separating desired constituents from a sample and quantitative for measuring the amounts present. The basic tool in all quantitative analyses is the analytical balance, used for the accurate weighing of samples and precipitates. Quantitative analytical chemistry: Volume 1, Introduction to principles. Volume 2, Short introduction to practice (Flaschka, H. A.; Sturrock, P. E.; Barnard, A. J., Jr.).
Chapter 1, Introduction to Quantitative Chemical Analysis. People are curious about the substances contained in material with which they come in contact. 21 Apr Quantitative analysis in chemistry tells us how much of something is in a sample and it's important to know all or part of a sample for many. For example, how much product can be made from a known starting material or how much of a given component is present in a sample. Quantitative analysis is any method used for determining the amount of a chemical in a sample. The amount is always expressed as a number with appropriate units.
