Time now to talk some baseball. The state baseball tournament starts Saturday with a regional matchup in Centralia between Mount Si and Peninsula, the #4 seed out of the West Central District. Peninsula made it to state with a win last Saturday night in Tacoma. Here is your first look at the team from Purdy. The Seahawks are 19-4-1 this season; the tie came against Franklin Pierce in a non-league game back in March. MaxPreps has all their stats, you can find those here.Looking at these numbers, the one guy that Mount Si will have to concern themselves with most is senior outfielder/catcher Blake Valley. This Seahawk has been on a tear this spring, hitting a cool .519 with one homer and 15 RBI’s, among the tops on the team in both categories. Valley has three doubles and three triples to his credit as well, so the Wildcats will have to work to shut him down for sure. But Valley will not be an easy out, as he has walked 11 times this spring and only struck out nine times. Add in a .597 on-base percentage and a .741 slugging percentage, and it’s pretty clear Valley will be a player to keep a close eye on on Saturday.READ ARTICLE

Mount Si stops LW for championship, 3-2 | KingCo 3A baseball
BELLEVUE — Three letters are inked into the side of Connor Swift's red Mount Si baseball hat: BIY. The letters are an acronym that reminds the designated hitter of how important it is to "believe in yourself."Swift thought about that before he stepped into the batter's box with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning of a tie game Friday night. He channeled that confidence into a base hit that drove in the go-ahead run in Mount Si's 3-2 victory over Lake Washington in the KingCo 3A title game at Bannerwood Park. READ ARTICLE

Big inning, Karalus’ arm sends Mount Si baseball to KingCo title game
A four-run second propelled the Wildcat offense, and Reece Karalus did the rest, pitching a one-hitter and striking out nine, as Mount Si won 6-1 last night over the Patriots at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue. The Wildcats collected 10 hits, led by the two doubles from Joey Cotto and triple from Connor Swift. Liberty scored their run on a Karalus wild pitch in the first, then it was all Mount Si after that. Cotto led off the bottom of that frame with his first of the two doubles, then scored from there on a Karalus single to tie the game 1-1. Swift’s triple sparked the big rally in the second, as Gunnar Buhner singled to score the Wildcat junior to give Mount Si the lead. Cotto and Carson Breshears then doubled to drive in a run more each to extend the lead to 4-1, then Trevor Lane’s single scored Breshears to cement control for Mount Si. A Karalus single in the fourth added another run, and from there, the Santa Clara-bound senior did the rest, only walking one the rest of the way to seal the deal.Mount Si meets Lake Washington tonight for the KingCo title at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue.
Varsity Vignette: Mount Si’s Summit Posted May. 8, 2012 10:27 am by Nathan Rode Filed under: Varsity Vignettes Timing is everything in baseball and Mount Si High (Snoqualmie, Wash.) has found a rhythm at the perfect time. Coming off a 3-A state title in 2011, the Wildcats had high expectations for 2012 with a strong pitching staff returning and an offense with potential. Mount Si got off to a strong start at 7-1 and debuted in the Baseball America Top 25 on April 10, but hit a snag and was out by the next poll after losing a couple of close games. READ ARTICLE
